Releasing Your Potential

In life, few people ever step up to live their lives at a higher level. They spend their lives wallowing in the circumstances that surround them. "If only things would be different, I would be able to achieve so much," or something along that line is the common chorus of these people. Most people believe in such a statement and therefore their situation reflects this attitude of mind; they don't really achieve much because they believe that something outside themselves will deliver their dreams to them. From this example I hope that you can see that it is their very thoughts that are holding them back from ever doing anything about making their vision real. It's not in the circumstances, but in the thoughts.

Imagine these very people (you being one of them) who start to believe that they have the power to change the situation by changing how they think about it. Imagine that you start knowing that you can create any circumstance that you want in your life! You are the writer in this play of life! You're the main actor, at least give yourself a major role. We are the director, the script writer, and the main actor in our own lives but we are too timid and too fearful to even give ourselves a decent part. At least give yourself a walk-on role in life! You are not extras! The fact that you are here already shows that you are important and that life is not meant for you to just look at other people succeed. It is an arena for you to succeed.

Start to take the only control you have into your hands; the power of your thoughts. Realize that everyone who has succeeded and has made their dreams real all started with the process of truly DESIRING their dreams. There is a big difference between hoping that you are going to get something and EXPECTING that you are going to get something. Start to expect greatness from yourselves. In the quest of your dreams don't belittle yourself. You still don't know what great and dormant powers lie inside you waiting to fully show up. You don't need to develop anything you just need to release the barriers that are stopping the flow of your full powers.

The first step to releasing this power is to have an overwhelming desire; something that you want to dedicate your whole life to. You are at the helm of this ship of life. You are the captain of your destiny. Take out a separate piece of paper and write out as many drafts as you need about what you are going to stand for. This process is called RE-INVENTION. You are who you are today because of things you told yourself to believe (even if it was to believe what others said about you). That was the way you created your initial self. Understanding that process, there's nothing stopping you from creating another self. You can instill any quality that you want inside you. All the qualities are inside you and what shows up depends on the beliefs you have about who you are. On another piece of paper or an index card, I want you to write out a description about who you are going to be.

Make this as clear as possible. Be creative in re-inventing yourself; it's your life! See what you have to become in order to get what you are going to get.
