The Secret of Making Odds Only Bets

Pssst...! Wanna know a secret?

How about the secret of making odds only bets?

As you probably know, the best bet on the craps table is, of course, the unadvertised free odds bet. This is the only bet that provides the house with absolutely no commission or vig, but you usually have to make a pass/don't pass or come/don't come bet to take advantage of it.

The pass or come bet's odds advantage is diluted after the come-out, so the advantage then swings over to the don't player. You should concentrate on these don't-come and don't-pass bets rather than on pass or come bets. You'll find that by using these methods the payoff is significantly higher than making lay bets, and you'll get to meet a lot of people and have a lot of fun!

Wanna know the secret that craps pros use to make odds only bets?

Let's find out!

Many casinos offer 5X odds (or higher) on their tables, but many people do not have the bankroll to take advantage of these higher odds. You'll probably see people placing a don't pass bet for $5 and then taking $10 odds, instead of the maximum odds that they are allowed.

Your job, then, is to befriend these people and talk them into letting you add your odds to their bet. It isn't as hard as it seems and, if you befriend just one person at one table, you could end up with many don't pass or don't come zero-vig bets.

These added-odds bets are your very best bets, because your new friend will take the come-out 7/11 risk for you, for both the don't pass and don't come bets. After the come-out, any number is in your favor and, if you win, your new friend will win his (or her) bet too!

Remember, though, that on the don't-side, the allowed odds are calculated on the winnings, not the bet. For a $5 flat bet on a four or ten (on a 5X table), you can lay up to $50 in odds, which pays off up to $25 (at 1:2 odds).

With the same $5 bet at a 10X table (with the four or ten), you can lay up to $100 in odds, which pays off at $50 (which is 10 X $5). If the point is 5 or 9 you can lay up to $75 in odds which pays off (at 2:3 odds) at $50 (also 10 x $5).

For example, say your new friend has a don't come bet for $5 which makes it past the come out and moves to the four. He takes 2X odds ($20) on it, so he will win $10 (plus his flat bet) if the seven shows before the four. You can add $80 of your odds to his bet (on a 10X table) and win an easy $40 if the seven rolls.

The don't pass works in the same way. If your new friend bets $5 don't pass and a point is established (say it is 9 this time) he might lay $15 in odds behind his flat bet. You can then lay an additional $60 (on a 10X table) and win $40 when Big Red shows.

Betting on odds only in this fashion is easy, profitable, and friend-building as well! Give it a try the next time you play!

Pssst...! Now you know the secret of making odds only bets!
