Happiness
Without getting into the core basics of philosophy, I will make a few statements about happiness. Happiness is probably the most sought after emotion, and the hardest to retain on an ongoing basis. We all can experience moments of joy that make us happy. I have found that I am most consistently happy when I am trying to help others to find happiness. The word "service" comes to mind. In our own relationships, we are the happiest when we are doing things for each other. And they don't even need to be big or grandiose things. Just little things. Things like a simple compliment for a thoughtful act. A word about how dinner went so well. "How was your day?"...and then listen to what they say. It is being together when you are together., and wishing you were together when you are not. It is always praising your partner and never saying anything bad about your partner to anyone. It is encouraging one another to higher education. Encouragement to improve talents and skills and hobbies. Encouragement to follow one's dreams. Dreams are the catalyst of real passion. Real passion does not happen over night. Real passion is not a destination. It is a journey. A journey one cannot follow, with any degree of true satisfaction, if they are on the path alone. Real passion was meant to be a shared journey. Give a simple "I Love You". Don't assume they know it. SAY IT. OFTEN. Now, don't kid yourself. All relationships are a continual "work-in-progress". There are the ups and the downs. The good times and the not-so-good. We must decide, for ourselves, that we are in this for the duration. Look for and give the "glance across the room" to your partner. Give them a kiss in the twilight. Take a casual walk together in the cool of the afternoon, "just because". Brush the fingertips of your hand across their shoulders or down their arm as you are talking to them or as you pass them by, whether in private, or public. Give them your smile; your warm, radiant, and sincere smile. These will all repay you immeasurably...and often! Bob Curtis has been writing articles, short fiction and poetry for over 30 years. The Art Of Happy Living What do you think about happiness? A philosophical approach to life; an intellectual activity or an academical pursuit. No, not at all, nothing of the sort. Giving Attention To Happiness When I left England in 2000 there did not seem to be much happiness around. People in modern western society tend to be self focused to the extreme, prone to criticise rather than support or applaud, and with little time or inclination to devote to others. Relationships can be a battleground rather than a haven of mutual support. Thinking about it now, I did not know anyone who I could say was really happy. I was acquainted with a few who might have been in a state of happiness, but I did not know them well enough to be sure. Suffering and Happiness The one feature that sets life on Earth apart from a paradise is suffering. It poses a problem for humanity and calls for a solution. This problem relates to human desires, the satisfaction of which is often difficult and uncertain, if not impossible, and always transient, in need of renewal; it is doomed to end sooner or later in death. Being Together When it comes to happiness, togetherness is probably the most common cause of such feelings. Keeping You Confident! We can all be confident when we are sure of ourselves and knowledgeable about the situation in which we find ourselves. But what happens when we are not so sure and when we are forced to step outside our comfort zone? What happens to our thinking? Acts of Kindness Benefit Everyone Do you really want to be happy? Everyone says yes, but the gateway to happiness makes some of us frown. The gateway to happiness, is giving to others. Think about this: "If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. Our constitution even provides freedom for the pursuit of happiness. People seek out many things in that pursuit . . . power, money, love, sex, food, etc. Magickal Baths Taking a Magickal Bath doesn't have to be complicated. It can be as simple as running to your local drug or beauty supply and buying a product that is appropriately scented or contains an herb or essential oil. The important thing about taking one of these baths, no matter how humble or expensive the ingredients are, is to meditate on your intention while you are sitting in the tub. Change 1 Thing Per Month - Making it Great One Step at a Time So you're stuck in a rut, bored with how your life is, and you can't think of how to get through this period. Einstein defined insanity as "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." So stop being insane?and try something new. Joy Is Sexy Joy is sexy because in embracing our joy, we embrace our positive energy and power. Joy is always there, waiting to be reclaimed. It is the bridge between living life by default and embracing life by positive design. Get sexy this week and remember that no one can tell us what to think or feel.
