Make A Difference - Just Go Make A Difference!
Three Words That Can Help Us Live Exceptional Lives Certain words and word combinations carry with them varying levels of meaning for each of us. For instance, you may sense any number of reactions to one or more of these statements: "Strike three." "Speeding ticket." "It's a girl!" "Filing system." (For me, these words qualify as an oxymoron!) Words articulate legislative action, cast vision, begin and end territorial disputes, express our final wishes, create pleasure and cause pain. Words -- and combinations of words -- can change lives. Take these three for instance: Observe. Think of these words as representing a three-fold skill set to assist us in cultivating the style of life we yearn to live... A growing, maturing, meaningful style of living that generates enthusiasm and challenges us to keep moving in the right direction. One simple, but not simplistic, pattern for continuing our own self development plan will most likely include: 1. Developing the art of meaningful *observation.* With the themes of observation, learning, and sharing forming the backdrop for your thoughts, take a mental review of the following seven vital areas for the purpose of capturing the prominent lessons of your life: *Work Now set your heart on helping yourself or someone else continue the journey of living a life of excellence by: 1. Applying one of your life lessons to your current set of circumstances. 2. Sharing your lesson with one or more individuals. Take Sherry, my wife, as an example. In twenty minutes I will watch a group of young adults from a small college in the Northeastern section of the United States prepare to share the joy of reading with several classes of elementary age children in the Bronx. Tomorrow this small band of "Let's make a difference!" people will arrive in New York, unpack their paraphernalia, get dressed in fun costumes, and creatively "read" stories from a variety of children's books to a gathering of school kids. How did this happen anyway? My wife looked at her life, took stock of what she learned (not only concerning how to teach reading but the joy of being a positive influence in the world), set up a training exercise for sharing her life lessons with future teachers, and designed a trip to the Bronx. In short, Sherry applied her heart to what she learned from life. Honestly I can't think of one person I admire... A friend, Who did not experience this simple process in one form or another as he or she strived to excel in the art of living. You possess a great deal of potential, my friend. Observe. When we find the truth all our answers are provided. Truth contains all answers to every problem. Truth has always existed and will always exist. Our beliefs and feelings color our truth. They act as filters between our truth and our illusions. And anyone given enough time and cognitive power anyone can put one together. Yes, they may strike a chord or make you feel good, but their true value resides in what they encourage and excite you to put into action. Ideas not followed by action have very little power. Here is one for you: "Only that which is eternal has any true value." Now you think about that quote and in some circles it might be considered pretty quotable. If you are focusing on the infinite then you must take the action necessary to strengthen and escalate the Power of the Infinite within yourself. The next logical question may be, "Well how do increase this power within?" All great teachers, sages and saints since time immemorial have told us in one-way-shape-or-fashion that the power to win in your life comes quite simply from two things. You must constantly: Study, understand, and immerse yourself in that which brings you power. Avoid all that weakens you. Unfortunately, you live in a world that will inundate you with that which weakens. Increasing your Infinite Self then becomes a matter of critical action; and here is where we tie this conversation into quotable quotes. The fact that you are alive in this century guarantees that you are highly exposed to negative input from the media, friends, school systems, family members and various other energy vampires. Now while you may not find all of above factors as negative in your life, we can be pretty well assured that unless you avoid television, newspapers and magazines all together (something you might strongly consider), you have at minimum some negative energy to contend with. If you are barraged by negative media input on a daily basis you must actively seek input to the contrary just to stay at equilibrium.. much less get ahead of the energy game. Enter quotable quotes. The infamous quotable quotes could indeed be a part of your action plan to offset negative input from other sources. Ultimately you will become that which you think about all day long, for thoughts breed action and actions breed results. Read the quotes as well as other pieces of inspiration and power; and then most importantly...act boldly in accordance with this line of thinking and pull yourself from the quagmire of collective limitation. It sounds like trudging uphill in the rain with your head down ? oblivious to your surroundings.
