Government Credit Card Abuse
Veterans Affairs Employees using government credit cards on personal items? Yes it is true and it is happening at the DOD, Air Force, Navy. There have been stories of this happening at local sheriff's offices. At the US Department of Labor as well as local school districts. There was a recent report of widespread abuse at the DOI as too. Where is all this money spent? Well everywhere you can spend money: at Casinos, Nude Bars, Car Washes, extra travel, etc. It seems to be at every level of government. But of course Government credit cards are only part of it. Some government employees assume this to be a perk and they expect it? Interesting considering that is taxpayers money and those fine folks in government are working for all of us. If you question any of this 'google it' yourself; key words: "Government Credit Card Abuse, employees, stealing." You will not believe the number of direct hits you get, scary stuff indeed. There are people working on this problem in government at some very high levels, but there is work to still be done. There are of course penalties for these things such as misuse of government credit cards. What is done about it? Well some are being brought to justice for stealing. Some agencies have chosen to try to make rules to regulate morality, furthering the bureaucracy by additional defining of what stealing is. Yet the root of the problem is a lack of integrity of the entire population from, which we draw upon for our fine folks in government. After all those people who abuse power, take bribes and dishonor self and country for personal gain while working under an oath to serve are much worse than any other abuse in our society. That is un-acceptable that we allow this to go on, surely living in the greastest country and civilization ever created; we can do better than this? As we watch those imperfect souls in government chastise the business community we need to have those same un-perfect souls refer to the nearest mirror. We do not need anymore "Porker of the Week" awards for these issues. The PTO Office has decided it needs to educate the employees as to what is allowed and disallowed? What a great idea, they ought to patent it? Well folks; stealing is obviously stealing? What part of stealing do they not understand? More policies instead? Why so they can document the theft and make more paper work, create another department within these bureaucracies to see that employees do not steal, an investigative internal affairs office of sorts? Then they can create another department to check up on the oversights of the internal affairs office? What about the paper work reduction act? Look you steal, you go to jail or you lose your government job forever, do not pass go, do not collect that guaranteed pension? The passive additional policy making is not working folks? It is a sham and a slam in the face to the taxpayer. Apparently that oxy moron called responsible government is alive and well in all levels of what we call 'our' government for us and of us? Well needless to say after doing the study the PTO, which is 18 months behind in their work has to warn employees not to use the government credit cards for vacations, alcohol, strip clubs and non-PTO business vacation travel? Well perhaps if they were doing their job there would be no back-logs there? After all, the real problem is the personal integrity level of the individual with the card. If 33% of our population would lie, cheat or steal for under $20 USD, and if we draw from our population for our government workers then the same percentage of abuse, misuse, lying or cheating will prevail in our government as well. So then we need to fix the ethics problem in the United States and that does not only mean the government. Perhaps the government ought to look in the mirror before it goes around harassing businesses, entrepreneurs who have to make payrolls and fund their little excursions with real tax dollars. Perhaps before we tell Mrs. Smith she has to pay a fine for 5 miles over the speed limit, we ought know exactly what the money is going for, how it will be spent and have a complete background check behind the people writing that ticket. Due to a general misunderstanding about the Constitution at the time of its ratification, a bill of rights was added to the Constitution in order to obtain ratification of the Constitution itself: The Public Is Enemy Number One There is something egregiously wrong about a government that will not listen to its people especially in, dare I say it, a democracy. Minor Disruptions Cause Chaos in Transportation Recently the Los Angeles Transit workers are on Strike and the RTD is not operating, this happens every few years. This disrupts the flow of people on their way to get food, go to work, attend college or visit friends. When the flow of transportation is disrupted it hurts our trust in the integrity of the system and affects our lives. When you design a city and have a transportation system to support the population and then turn it off you cause chaos. Politics The Republican Party became popular due to its view on the way conservative America thinks so the country goes republican. Let us Disband The FTC?s Franchising Division Previously Senator Dick Armey and his staff in 2000 to review seriously the important decision to scrutinize the FTC's franchising division. Mr. Armey has sense retired. Today, I urge the Administration, the GAO, Senate Subcommittee and other governmental oversight bodies to curtail the efforts of the FTC to further over regulate the MUD (much unnecessary disclosure) plaguing our industry. How much should the FTC's franchise group be downsized? We see by the introduction of a proposed change and additions to the franchise rule that they have over stepped their usefulness in franchising, so perhaps that division should receive no funding and be immediately disbanded. I have an interesting case study and 2000 pages of proof of innocence of an action taken against my company by the FTC. Federal Trade Commission Will Not Monitor MLM Companies Having been to every city in the country over the population of 10,000 in the last four years I have been noticing a trend. I have seen Multi-Level Marketing folks hard selling their business opportunities in public presentations. Listening to these sales pitches in nearly every coffee shop I have step foot and stayed for more than one hour; it is now obvious to me that these MLM people are making at least 25,000 to 40,000 of these presentations per day in public places. This estimate includes presentations being made at college campus dorms and at dinner tables at private homes and residences. During these meetings these MLM sales people say things like they are doing 'Private Franchising', never mentioning the words; Multi-Level Marketing, which many consumers are onto now. Instead they use the more well respected name of "Franchising" but franchising is a legal definition and is nothing close to what they are peddling. What could Macedonia Learn from a Tiger? Asian Tigers and Uninterrupted Economic Growth The first reaction of economies in transition is a sharp decline in their production, mainly in industrial production. In the countries which attained independence with the demise of the British Empire (where the sun never set) - industrial production fell by 20% on average. Oh and before I continue another one of my "Rants from Lance" series here there is a good book you should read, well actually a couple of them. Okay let's begin with a book I just finished reading; Constitutional Amendment Needed on Sodomy Laws Many very nice and loving homosexual male couples want to get married. Sure they can have various personal vows and contractual relationships, share monies; even call themselves married; domestic partners or sole mates. Male homosexual marriages or civil unions seem to make sense because the homosexual male population as a whole is 560% more promiscuous as heterosexuals or regular folks. This promiscuity issue leaves them as at the highest possible risk of contracting HIV and AIDS. AIDS kills people, which would not be very good for them personally. In the future perhaps there will be a cure. Right now the Chinese are working on a vaccine, which looks promising. When you insert you sexual organ up another person's rectum much tearing takes place and there are severe health risks involved even without the contraction of venereal diseases or AIDS. We Are Turning a Corner in Foreign Relations, Thanks GW Bush! Kudos goes out to the George Walker Bush's Administration and long-term strategy in the world to take the high road in our foreign relations policy. Today we see relief donations coming in from around the world, why? Well because despite what you read in the newspapers about our Middle East efforts, it shows that we, America, is seen as a country with the right attitude and vision. We have helped people and nations around the world and now, in our time of need we see a reciprocal response. The Gun Control Debate The gun control debate in America is a battle between personal freedom and public safety. For nearly 160 years, there were no limits to the Second Amendment, which guarantees "the right of the people to keep and bear arms." In 1934, however, and especially in the last four decades, Americans have begun to proscribe and debate the extent of that right. The National Firearms Act of 1934 was the first restriction on gun rights in American history. As a result, fully automatic weapons are available only after an extensive background check on the owner. Boston Bankers Many people make a lot of money in war. In WWII we know that Prescott Bush was involved with Brown Bros. Harriman in a trading with the enemy lawsuit. The Bush family is not even close to the top of this food chain that includes agents like the Rockefellers and the likes of Chase Manhattan Bank which I dealt with in my book on Custer, Keogh and Lincoln's Assassination through Samuel Chase. That was the Civil War and I am now addressing the War of 1812. I find the same families show up over and over again however. The funny thing is we have a group called the Peace Faction that seemed against the war and yet the result from their efforts put more money in the hands of these bankers that are now called the Beacon Hill Mob and include such upstanding people as the group known as The Pilgrims. There is so much intrigue it is hard to wade through it all and I am sure some readers will not choose to check into it all. I certainly cannot lay it all before you in any one book.
