Companies, Consumer and Cost of Fuel
Which companies are most affected by fuel? Who really bears the increase in fuel costs? How much do they pass on? What companies are most prone to cost increases due to shear volumes of usage? How about companies like UPS and Fed Ex Air, talk about market power and vehicles. Fed Ex and Ups are approaching 35,000 vehicles each. How much fuel is that? It is so much they can afford to look at alternative sources and fund R and D projects to reduce their costs in fuel. UPS recently decided to put in Hydrogen stations at every terminal for their double and triple truck units. Fred Smith, Chairman of the Fed Ex Companies said that if a company could deliver a vehicle that would use 50% less fuel and 90% less emissions he would order 19,000 of them. He lied they are now ordering 35,000. The company grew a little between the offer and the accomplishment. The free market is finding ways to deal with the issues in the flow of fuel. It does not take long on a busy corner in a busy city to see that one in three vehicles is a business or a government vehicle. A school bus, cable installer pick-up, limousine, post office LLV (new jeep), dog groomer, meter reader, taxi, car wash guy, telephone company van, garbage truck, shuttle bus, pizza delivery car, package delivery van, rent-a-car, police car, armored car or a hot dog car towing a cart. This is before we even discuss the fact that in many households there are as many registered vehicles as members of their family, including the family dog or cats. America's love of the automobile comes with issues of fuel and this is why the supply and the flow of the fuel should be among some of our top priorities. Recently in Arizona an old pipeline owned by Kinder Morgan sprung a leak and left the city of Phoenix in a problem situation. No fuel for cars. The problem went from serious to critical in less than three days. We saw first hand that service businesses stopped, people could not get to work, school, doctors office, etc. It certainly got the attention of every man, woman and child within in that period. The problem lasted a week. Trains, trucks loaded with fuel tried to keep up the supply, but they started from behind the curve and could not possibly keep up. Many gasoline stations had already run out of fuel and people were running out of gas, while looking for a gas station still open. The sides of the freeways were full of parked cars, yes you guessed it with scribbled signs written on note book paper, pieces of car board and backs of hand bills set between the windshields and wiper blades; "out of gas." Since when is it okay for someone who is an Attorneys General to act out like this? We are seeing more and more abuse of power. Entrepreneur Lashes Out at Linear Thinking Government Regulators I am personally calling for a total disbanding of the regulatory agencies as we know it immediately. This needs to be done from the inside out. We need an immediate cut of 1/3 of all regulatory personal. They need to be fired without any benefits. Those who have enough brains to understand my comments should immediately quit the agencies because they are destroying America from the inside out, like a plague, a cancer, disease, SARS or AIDS. By quitting their positions they can show America they are with us, and leave the International Terroristic Regulatory Agencies out to destroy us for their own personal fame and gain. It appears to be runaway abuse of power in a Virtual Reality Blue Goo Blob which has a mind of its own and could care less about those it is suppose to serve, us, the ones who created it and for the most part are suppose to own it. The regulatory agencies have obviously run out of targets and are attacking and over regulating good companies. I am also calling for a fight in the courts and that every company fight the agencies on every single issue brought forth and to hang tough spend the money and draw swords to fight these evil monsters back to the gates of Hell. (colorful comment? But has some truth to it, cannot fight with soft spoken words any longer, nor would such soft words do justice). For instance: some of Saddam's Iraqi army personal may have given up or volunteered to give up to slow us down. Prisoners take time to handle and resources to collect. Some are now saying we should not have spared them. He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day. The only thing relevant of the Geneva Convention rules for modern warfare in collecting and giving back prisoners, is that you have guaranteed future wars as those prisoners return to their state and tell of the over embellished atrocities of the enemy. Ironic that you can spare someone and return them to their family and they live to make things worse for you later. Sarbanes-Oxley Reality Check on Bureaucracy There is no doubt in hindsight that Sarbanes Oxley was a mistake as we watch the blob of bureaucracy move into the private sector. There is no doubt that Sarbanes Oxley's real costs have been passed onto the consumer and citizen like a giant tax increase of Boston Tea proportions. Many people wonder if Senator Sarbanes and Oxley should be brought up on charges of treason. Absolutely they should. Many people wonder if death by hanging is too harsh? Of course it is not. How Can We Elect Good Leaders? Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Men desire power. Give power to those men who have the greatest apparent altruism by nature, experience and by example. Give these beings the ability to attain those innate needs, while simultaneously helping the whole. Mankind will be fulfilled and work itself to the common good with forward progress. Other men will follow who are similar and rise up. Give those with the greatest testosterone and the killer genes something to do to use those innate needs fulfillment; things like sports, business, war, etc. The Self-Appointed Altruists Their arrival portends rising local prices and a culture shock. Many of them live in plush apartments, or five star hotels, drive SUV's, sport $3000 laptops and PDA's. They earn a two figure multiple of the local average wage. They are busybodies, preachers, critics, do-gooders, and professional altruists. The Irish Issue The expertise and advancement of the evolution of man and his culture is evident in one area only - that of propaganda and lying. They have learned how to suck and blow simultaneously out of every orifice of their bodies. Deceit, black ops (e.g. Kennewick Man), 'hide the ball' (e.g. the confusing array of Pyramid explanations) and secret agencies of advanced skill and esoteric expertise in all social structures that allow us to be 'managed'. JFK, Watergate, Iran/Contra or Ritalin, the program has a repeating plot that is rife with immorality and it's ever-present greed. The maze the Minotaur went through on Crete is reproduced near Glastonbury (or vice versa like Karnac and Carnac) and it is harder to get through the maze these 'social engineers' create or are still trying to create. Public Utilities, Monopolies and Problematic Structures Public utilities and a problematic issue on the allowance of profits. We all know that if you are only allowed to make 15 percent profit as in the case of Utilities Companies then why not spend more money so you can make 15 percent go up. For instance if you make $100 which are only allowed to keep 15, that you make two hundred dollars, then you get to keep 30. A utility is a quasi government agency in that it has no competition; it is regulated by government. It is a forced monopoly, so monopolies are fine as long as the government says so, yet very inefficient and to that end when you take an inefficient business model whether it is steel or energy and throw it into a deregulated ring where strong survive, you learn real quick just how inefficient and out of shape it is. Companies, which become or are labeled monopolies by government, yet got there through fierce competition are much different than companies, which are monopolies which were in fact created by the government. Eminent Domain Suggested as Cost Saving Measure in DC Washington DC council member David Catania actually suggested that the council should consider claiming eminent domain of certain widely prescribed pharmaceutical formulas in order to help reign in rising drug costs for the city. Catania suggests that the patents should be acquired by the government through the mayor's declaration of a public health emergency and then generic manufacturers would be contacted to produce the drugs for cheaper than they are commercially available. Droughts, Dirty Water and Disease When we go through periods of droughts we also have other problems, which are increased. Birds modify their stopping points for water during migration, stay in areas longer during the year or leave earlier thus their chances of infecting more areas are greater. When Deer travel further to go to watering holes during migration the come in contact with different livestock and humans. The Bark Beetle has a field day during droughts and the issues in Alaska, Prescott and Flagstaff, AZ are rather serious.
